MUSEUM IS OPEN! The station museum is open and staffed by the Chamber of Commerce from 9 AM - 4 PM, Monday-Saturday, and 1PM - 3PM on Sunday. HCRA is providing interpreters at the Museum on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10AM - 4PM.

It is
the Mission of the Historic Railroad Museum and Station at Llano, Texas,
to preserve the railroad heritage of Llano County and adjacent counties
of the Texas Hill Country and it shall be presented to the general
public as a Historic Railroad Museum.
The Museum and Station will have the first purpose of
discovery, collection and preservation of books, pamphlets, maps,
portraits, relics, artifacts, manuscripts, letters, journals,
photographs and any and all articles, objects and/or materials which
pertain and relate to the history and heritage of the railroads of
the Hill County, the County of Llano and adjacent counties, and the City
of Llano, especially as such items relate to the discovery,
collection, and preservation of all articles, objects and materials
which pertain and relate to the history of railroads in the Texas Hill
Country, therewith to arouse and perpetuate a knowledge of and an
interest in such areas.
The Museum and Station shall have the second purpose of
serving as a passenger reception space for such excursion railroad
activities as may be operated by the Hill Country Railroad Association
or its successor.
Collection policy: The museum will collect as donations the
following: artifacts, photographs and documents which fulfill the
Mission Statement particularly relating to the railroad history of the
Texas Hill Country. It is not anticipated that the Museum
Collections would overlap those of the Llano County Historical
Museum.
Scope: The scope of the Museum Collection is limited to the
history of the following railroads:
1. Austin and Northwestern/Texas and New Orleans/Southern Pacific
Llano Branch, from Burnet to Llano. The Southern Pacific System in
general
2. Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe/Santa Fe Railroad Brady Branch,
from Lometa to Brady. The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad
System in General
3. San Antonio and Aransas Pass/Southern Pacific Kerrville Branch
from Comfort to Kerrville.
4. Fredericksburg and Northern Railroad, Comfort to
Fredericksburg.
These railroads impact the following Hill Country Counties of Texas:
Burnet, Llano, San Saba, McCullough, Kendall, Gillespie and Kerr.
